I don't think I'd worry about the log error if that's the only one they found. If you said, I missed it, but did he give you a ticket for that or just a warning?
I had the opposite issue. When I fire up every morning, I go on duty and that's where it stays for my entire day. I'm either driving or on duty (loading, unloading or fuel). I had a DOT man ask me about that one day. "You mean you don't ever go off duty?". Me, "Nope, not until I go home at night. There's no reason. I never stop for off duty reasons. The farthest I go is 3 hrs and 45 minutes away. I bring my lunch every day and eat it while I'm unloading somewhere (takes about an hour to unload)". He looked at 3 or 4 days and said "Good enough for me". lol
FTR, I LOVE the new on duty rule that resets that 30 minute break crap!
DOT Inspection Violations, went off duty instead of sleeper berth

Your company or you (if you are an O/O) can modify the log. The 2 stupidest things about the split sleeper rule is that it can't be less than a 7/3 at this point in time and the 2nd rest break HAS to be sleeper. No Off Duty. A 6/4 won't work. I tested this just yesterday and had to sit for an extra hour because I had a 4 hour SB earlier in the day but had to wait for my 2nd break to reach the 7 hour mark or it didn't count even though together I had 11 hours off.. Yep, bureaucratic intricacies at their finest, ladies and gentleman....

Since when do you have to be on SB for your 10 hour break. As long as your off 10 it is none of there business where you were, might have spent the night at a friends house. Let them prove otherwise.
As for the blown drive tire, how in the hell can you BLOW a drive and not known it, you were plain old running on a flat. -
