Looking to enter the trucking industry and am partially worried about this after seeing the statement the fmcsa released today. What do y'all think?
Should us new guys be afraid of autonomous technology?

I think that statement says what political hacks always do.....nothing.
Gives zero, none, not one bit of specific information on anything.
If a plastic grocery bag blows in front of one of these trucks, it SLAMS on the brakes.
The highways are crowded. Very crowded. They are nowhere near ready for unmanned trucks to be lumbering along in traffic.Last edited: Mar 12, 2021

Im more concerned about the parking shortage, and the possibility of the broker becoming obsolete with online technology

You have far greater things to worry about for your survival.

The infrastructure alone, is decades at best, for implementation.

The government and the bureaucrats that run it are very bad at predicting the future. Just take it with a grain of salt.

Yes I would be scared of them. If you see one coming get off the road. If it starts to chase you, you’re probably screwed though.
Snailexpress and lester Thank this. -
There are greater threats that are much closer - namely dirt-worshipping hippies and the unholy alliance between the ATA and politicians resulting in H-2B visas for anyone willing to drive a truck for less than minimum wage. We’re much closer to being forced to pedal our trucks and compete with drivers from China, India, Pakistan and Mexico in the US than losing our jobs to a robotruck.

Disregard. See how those few tesla crashes ended up in the msm. Imagine if it was a truck. We're still multiple DECADES out. I'm 27, maybe by the time I retire things will be a lot diff. Who knows?
