I'm a driver with 8 years experience. I recently got a new job I've been there 1 1/2 month and literally the only thing decent is the tractors and pay. It's a drop and hook account that pays by the load. Well they never have empty trailers ready so you have to sit and wait and when you finally get a trailer it won't pass inspection literally 90% of the trailers have multiple violations. I actually got put out of service by the nice d.o.t man on a level 2 inspection 2 weeks ago. I'm seriously thinking I'm going to bail I worked to hard to get and keep my cdl clean just to ruin it because a company doesn't want to put money into there trailers. Other than the money and not wanting another short tenure with a bad company on my resume I can't really see a reason for staying? I mean am I being unreasonable for wanting legal equipment? I could live with the wait times and other not so great aspects of the job but I really don't want to have to drive a rolling ticket everyday. So I'm thinking I will bail what say y'all?

Yes. Bail before you do some serious damage to your CDL.

With 8 yrs experience, you should NEVER have left the yard with an OOS defect. But, you already know that.

Lots of companys fighting over drivers atm. If they cant maintain their #### then cut them loose and find a better company. You will have a job in under a week if you push hard.

I just hate having one more job on my resume. My career has been as follows. 1st) driving job was in the oilfield I was with them for 2 years until they went out of buisness. (2nd job I was with that outfit for 1 1/2 years until the oilfield recession hit them. ) (3rd job was there for 1 1/2 years until we relocated. This is where the fun begins lmao! (4th Job I was at for 6 months and left when they lost the contract I hired for.) (5th job 1 month Lmfao! I left when the company decided to tell the drivers if you stop at a store you will be terminated I just went ahead and saved them the trouble! ) (6th job 2 years only reason I left was because they had no work.) (7th job this one I'm currently at. I know my resume is not the greatest and I hate to keep adding jobs on it but unfortunately in our industry there's more bad companies than good.

Thank you! I have a few job prospects out there. A couple of them I'd be going in blind and hoping the recruiters aren't lying ( they wouldn't do that would they?) Lol. I have one job prospect where a cousin works at its home daily and he loves it and after hearing him tell me about it I believe I would love it too. only problem is it's a long commute. But all I do is drive anyways what's another 120 mile round trip a day lol.

Most trucking companies don't have a say in the matter of job hopping. The only ones who do are your ltl jobs, food service, posh walmart type jobs, or hard to get into niche jobs . Truckers are constantly faced with being fed ######## , so it's not uncommon to get mislead.

What are your long term goals ? are you looking for a job that you could retire from ?

Are you just looking for a job that pays well?

If the 1st is so , then look in the fields that @asphaltreptile311 mentioned. That's what I retired from. Food service. It's work , but you're home practically every night. The pay is awesome , benefits usually are too.

It's?all in what "you" want. Good luck !

BTW , you're not wrong in leaving a company that won't keep its equipment maintained at the highest level. Never , ever compromise safety.

    For any reason.

Walk! I've fired 6 companies in three years. I found a company who has comprehension. Little 22 truck company. They're not perfect. Some goofy things. But it's by far the best I have found. Don't fool around with companies that are too big to do something about their faults.

My resume is garbage and I always find another job. I once told a guy I wouldn’t hire me based on my resume, but if it was discussed the picture would be more clear. I don’t put up with nonsense and I don’t care about my resume. They were just recently talking in another thread about being loyal to a company nowadays is pretty much a waste of time. Companies will drop you in a heartbeat for whatever reason. I treat them the same.
