"They let their CDL go" - What does it mean?

Yeah, just paying to keep CDL current is a good idea. My state is renewing DL’s including CDL for 8 years at a shot. I renewed mine in 2015 and it goes to 2023. The few extra bucks to renew CDL is well worth it. You never know when opportunity knocks.

Reasons I'm "letting the A go":
I've lost interest in:
1) Auto-shift.
2) being WATCHED while I drive (some companies have 3 Cameras watching the Driver). I have ZERO camera in my 4-wheeler.
3) being told I can not use MY PHONE while driving even with a HEADSET.
4) Cannot Eat Food or Drink Fluids while Driving (heard that a few times locally). I'm Old School, when I drop something on the floor, it remains till I SAFELY STOP (usually temporarily on a Ramp or Truck Friendly Business).
5) Electronic Logs. I started Driving when no one ever heard of Electronic Logs, just Comic/Coloring Books. I despise E-Logs.
6) "required" 30 minute breaks. I'll find a truck stop and wait in the fuel line, easily 30 minutes.
7) The Attitudes of these many "newbies" as well shippers/receivers (not all, just many).
8) The "new attire" and flip flops.
9) D.O.T.
10) F.M.C.S.R.

I've a Nigerian born neighbor across street that owns 2 Tractors with 2 Rental Trailers.
He's not anywhere near broke or strapped for cash.
He and wife have 6 children, 5 vehicles (not including Trucks), 1 two story house with single vehicle garage full of "family stuff".
1 truck parked in his yard.
Other Truck with 2 Trailers somewhere close.
Driver for Other truck quit last year.
He asked me a coupla times If I am still interested in Driving.
I said NO becuz Wife needs assistance.
Kinda bummed him out.
He's still Looking and hasn't driven the "yard truck" since last September. It's Yard Art!
