Hey Johnboy, does Calex hire from Georgia?? I've been a driver for 14 yrs safe, My Co. is starting to not really be working out, and now we are going to e-logging, really limiting what we can do... I think I read, yall are on e-logging but if you get better loads it makes a much bigger difference!?!? we are at .32, .33 if you've been out over 12 days, I've been gone 9 weeks,, I've had a really hard and bad year just trying to catch back up,, ( lost my home"fire", lost 10 yr driving job, family has died, divorced very little furniture, and just behind on top of everything, I'm a single parent of a wonderful 13 yr old son!!! just wondering if Calex would hire me and how it might work out??? thanks for your posts!!! dddriver111

Hello to the drivers out there, if any of you have any suggestions as to a good decent company to drive for "I guess that is a crazy question seeing the times we are in" but anyway if anyone has any input, please leave me some advice, I would appreciate it greatly.. you can read the little trucker jobs books but anymore you don't know who is telling the truth... I just want to be able to work, catch up on a horrible year and support my son!!! thanks......dddriver111

dddriver, from my understanding they hire from either the beginning or ending of our freight lanes. Our system is set up for out and back originating in Pittston and ending there. That goes for our California drivers as well. I am now at home empty and will be loaded back to the Northeast for my reload then brought back to the terminal for my load back to Florida. The same goes for the other drivers from California, they are sent out then brought right back to the Northeast.
It's taken me some time to get the hang of E-logging with a few mistakes thrown in for good measure. I had my first out of hours violation in 20 years last week because I forgot to log my sleeper berth change the night before. I'm not really sold on this idea , but am smart enough to know these companies need to do this to cover their #####. Like anything else that comes with change, I'll get use to it. You might want to give Mort in safety a call just to ask if it's changed any. Be safe and enjoy the time with your 13 year old, believe me, they grow up very quickly. Well I was able to take a nice 100 mile bike ride today. When I got home I checked my checking account and lo and behold my pay was there a day early. I like the way this company does business! The more I think the bubble is going to burst, the better it gets. I just have to add, the biggest complaint that a driver has is when a mistake is made on pay day, so far, after almost 4 months of driving for Calex, there hasn't been one mistake yet.

"Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming." lol

Well after calling all day into dispatch I finally got my load info for Monday, actually I got all my loading info for most of next week. I need to p/u in Jacksonville FL 8am Monday, deliver 7 am Tuesday in Kingsport TN, deadhead to Cleveland TN for a drop and hook later that day for a load going to Toronto for a Thursday delivery. They said that I could drop it in the yard or run it all the way through which pays an extra $100. I'll probably run it all the way. The way this should turn out I'll be home next Saturday and have roughly 3500 miles for the week. We'll see how it turns out, stay tuned.
