Hallo drivers? Today I was passed by an o/o pulling an Amazon trailer with one tire on the tandems missing. I could clearly see it as it was on the outside with a white rim that had been bent pretty bad. No tire just the rim spinning. I guess he curbed the rim, took the tire off and hauled ### as not to be late. I know amazon loads are light or the trailer might have been empty. Here is what I want to know. What would happen if a cop sees this or he is pulled over for say speeding? Am guessing he will be put out of service. Btw it was a foreign driver as I could recognize the name on the truck and he was passing everybody.
IS THIS LEGAL?

When we got stoped at CA. scales with a singled out wheel all they did was ck. the air pressure in the one tire on the inside to ck. to be sure it had over 100 lbs. in the one tire that was on that side and all was OK. to drive on down the road.

As long as the single isn't over weight it's all fine.

Many times a company will single out a tire on an empty if it's close to a company facility where they can replace it cheaper than at a commercial tire dealer or road service. Although, if I saw that, I would speculate that the driver more than likely hit something and blew the tire, and it just worked it's way off the rim as he drove...and the next poor smuck that picks that trailer up where he drops it will have to deal with it. Based on the quality of the equipment I've seen pulling Amazon trailers, I'd be willing to bet, many of those contractors probably think a posttrip is how long it takes them to drop the landing gear, disonnect the airlines and pig tail, and release the 5th wheel, then drive off.

Yep, legal.
You can not have a flat or underinflated tire on.
Granted, everything else is within it's limits.justcarhaulin Thanks this. -
Like everyone said, as long as the single tire is not overloaded you’re fine. If I have an outside tire blow I will try and get the remaining casing off before limping it to a repair facility. No need to have it come apart and wreck anything else.
