Research for story: question re simple roadside truck fixes

If you are writting a comedy.....mechanic shows up lifts hood flips a switch that says “fixed” takes two one hundred dollar bills and driver is good to go.

Serious note along the lines of Reo’s broken throttle spring post. Rubber tarp bungees work good for replacing broken clutch return springs.

 

Truck is blowing oil all over the place he stops in the middle of the road. Hits his flashers and begin to set up his triangles.

Mechanic is in a car behind him. Comes over flips the hood and he sees that the oil filters were just changed but they came loose.

He grabs a rag wipes everything down tightens them by hand then takes off his belt wrapped it around the filters and pulls them tight.

Check the oil. Not down to add yet driver is on his way.

 

Exactly what I was thinking. Only in my version he had just got a service done at Speedco 50 miles or kilometers in this case, up the road.

Got my fuel filter changed one time. Went over a bump in a parking lot, truck stalls. Tighten fuel filter cap, prime it, and it starts.
