Maybe he’s setting himself up for a quick, safe, and easy way out of there. Some locals that know the patterns of particular stops tend to do these things. So when the circus starts to fill up the lot we can step out of the place nice and easy.

That's sucks cause I go right next to them when I haven't got washout yet after a load.... and I have a livestock trailer...

I do it so people don't have to put up with the smell of my trailer after I get a couple load in it

Because people are extremely lazy now. I stopped at the Pilot in Lamar PA to fuel and shower yesterday. I got fuel and then parked in one of the (literally) 50 open spots. When I got out of my truck another driver pulled parallel with the Cat scale and walked inside with his shower bag. Then another pulled through the fuel island and walked over to McDonald's. Lazy and inconsiderate drivers are have taken over this industry and it's only gonna get worse. I woke up at the Loves in Staunton VA a few weeks ago and trucks were parked 5 wide against the curb right in front of me, no way for me to swing it out and get out of my spot. I pounded on 3 doors and asked 3 drivers to GTF out of the way. Now there's an open spot that I just opened up, and you would THINK one of them would take it. Nope, right back to where they were before to block in 4 more drivers. End of rant

My truck is 80’ long, tandems fixed to the rear, add a wide load and I park where I can get out in the am .
If I have a 15 million dollar C-17 motor on I get creative so only the dumbest driver can bump it. If a motor is bumped they will not put it on a plane until it is dissembled and inspected.
your boss doesn’t want that bill.

This is the absolute achievement of a prominent scholar in the making, but I digress, proper English is facing extinction as more generations fail to learn proper English word etiquette.

I always wondered why some people park on rest area ramps when there is 10+ spots available at rest area. I’m seeing this in afternoon or evening.

I see the really long and oversized rigs parked wherever they can find that they fit. I get that. It's really only the normal sized rigs I see creating spots when lots of open spots exist that lead me to question why. This thread has given me answers I hadn't thought of. IDK, I park in a designated spot if one's available. And, often, if I worry about whether one will be available by the time I'm gonna be there, I'll reserve a spot if I'm able. I don't like trying to figure out some place to park when all the spots are full, it's dark and I'm tired. I know many refuse to pay for parking, that's their choice I'm not judging. For me, it's worth the money to know I have a spot when I get there and I don't have to worry about it.
