Why do truckers creative park when there are tons of open spaces?

Thanks...I quit hauling produce 2 years ago and now only haul fresh beef , pork , frozen food and temp controlled medical supplies.
Notes :
When I park the unit goes on continuous.
I try to park way out by myself or next to other reefers .
Say what you want about reefer work but I'm always busy and have never starved in this facet of the industry...I live in omaha Nebraska and as long as people eat beef and pork my bills will be paid .
If you are one of those that thinks a truck stop is a resort don't park next to me .
A soupy cow trailer parked next to me does not offend me !

 

If adverbs are dead, would one say "load", instead of "butt load", leaving the "butt" out of the phrase? Would it have the same meaning?

 

Friend, please review your parts of speech. “Load” is a noun. “Butt” in this context is an adjective. What type of load? A “butt” load.

An adverb modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb. “They quickly loaded the butt load of butts.”

I'd have thought that Audible and youtube together ought to make everyone with a driving job at least familiar with much more than they arr i guess

(Though in reference to the original guy i was dumbing things down from, i imagine he was studying physics at much higher than high school level)

This thread has given me new hope in truckers. Not in the asinine ways they/we park sometimes but most certainly in terms of erudition.

I, for one, usually think about one thing when parking. If I have an appointment or need to leave early in the morning is there ANY way I can get blocked in here? I'm not really interested in knocking on doors at 0500. That guy is a jerk for blocking me but he's also a driver who may have been forced to drive late due to unforeseen circumstances and he's just trying to sleep. Sometimes it's hard to see the whole situation in the middle of the night pulling in somewhere tired. That's not giving lazy stupid people the benefit of the doubt, it's an attempt to live and let live and make sure MY trip isn't screwed up.

I do not park on exit ramps though unless it's the well worn type way off the drive lanes. I'll always pick the entrance lane on the other side of the exit in this circumstance if possible.

You hit the nail on head. I typically start my day somewhere around 11PM to 4 AM. That means that I often get my pick of parking spots. My priority is, whether there is potential to be blocked. I could care less about how close I am to the TS entrance or much of anything else. I don’t want my typical tight schedule ruined. Most of the time that means a regular spot, sometimes it does not. But I’m always certain that I’m not somewhere that impedes others.
