The license plates are fastened to the front of 18 Wheeler's, RIGHT? I'm just checking because an Arizona State Cop pulled me over and wrote me a ticket for not having one on the back of my #### truck...
Ticketed in AZ for only having one plate on the front of my truck

Pretty sure someone else posted a similar experience in Arizona a couple months ago.
Here is the thread. Pulled over for no rear tag in ArizonaLast edited: Mar 27, 2021

I’ve never seen a license plate on the back of a tractor. However, I have heard of guys getting dinged for not having a rear license plate light. Makes sense, lol.
My truck has a fake plate on the back that just says something like, “this is an apportioned vehicle” or some such thing.alds, slow.rider, Coffey and 1 other person Thank this. -
If u are bobtailing. Arizona will nail u for it.
Flat Earth Trucker, slow.rider and tommymonza Thank this. -
It's almost tempting just to go buy one of those old license plates in a novelty store and hang it when in AZ, then those dopes won't even take a second look to see if it matches the front. And don't they even know this by now? I assume the ticket is just a fine? I wouldn't pay a dime knowing my home state only issues 1 plate and it's to be attached to the front. See you in court.Last edited: Mar 27, 2021
Northern Nomad and 86scotty Thank this. -
That's weird because Az. only issues one plate for cars, which goes on the rear, obviously.
Muskie, NavigatorWife, slow.rider and 2 others Thank this. -
Should be a code on the ticket for the law/regulation you “broke”. Look it up and see what it says. Could be a bogus ticket that no one has ever called them on.
nredfor88, alds and slow.rider Thank this. -
I used to be leased to a company out of Ohio and they gave us a form from the DMV stating only 1 plate issued in Ohio and to be mounted on the front. Then when I went full owner op I found my states regulations and printed them out. I don't think a ticket would hold up because you're not even registered in AZ. Same as tinted windows, if you're from Florida, AZ, or NV, or any state that allows them, how can you be ticketed elsewhere. It's not like you're going to remove your tint to travel through a state that it might be illegal in after all your car is legal in your home state. So are you supposed to get a rear license plate for your tractor when you travel to AZ? I don't think so.
GoneButNotForgotten and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
How annoying!!!! I have never seen a plate on the back of a tractor and I have been out here since 1997 off and on. Now straight trucks, sure...but no front plate on straight trucks!
TheLoadOut Thanks this.
