The license plates are fastened to the front of 18 Wheeler's, RIGHT? I'm just checking because an Arizona State Cop pulled me over and wrote me a ticket for not having one on the back of my #### truck...

I’ve never seen a license plate on the back of a tractor. However, I have heard of guys getting dinged for not having a rear license plate light. Makes sense, lol.

My truck has a fake plate on the back that just says something like, “this is an apportioned vehicle” or some such thing.

Go to your states DMV website, or search out CMV codes or statutes for your state. I found the listing for my home state that states only 1 plate is issued to a commercial vehicle and it is to be attached to the front of the vehicle. I printed it out and keep it in my permit book. I've yet to use it but prepared too when needed.

It's almost tempting just to go buy one of those old license plates in a novelty store and hang it when in AZ, then those dopes won't even take a second look to see if it matches the front. And don't they even know this by now? I assume the ticket is just a fine? I wouldn't pay a dime knowing my home state only issues 1 plate and it's to be attached to the front. See you in court.

That's weird because Az. only issues one plate for cars, which goes on the rear, obviously.

Should be a code on the ticket for the law/regulation you “broke”. Look it up and see what it says. Could be a bogus ticket that no one has ever called them on.

I used to be leased to a company out of Ohio and they gave us a form from the DMV stating only 1 plate issued in Ohio and to be mounted on the front. Then when I went full owner op I found my states regulations and printed them out. I don't think a ticket would hold up because you're not even registered in AZ. Same as tinted windows, if you're from Florida, AZ, or NV, or any state that allows them, how can you be ticketed elsewhere. It's not like you're going to remove your tint to travel through a state that it might be illegal in after all your car is legal in your home state. So are you supposed to get a rear license plate for your tractor when you travel to AZ? I don't think so.

How annoying!!!! I have never seen a plate on the back of a tractor and I have been out here since 1997 off and on. Now straight trucks, sure...but no front plate on straight trucks!
