So what’s the secret to running recaps right anyway? I’m usually one who bangs out as much of my 70 then does a 34 at the end of the week, but I know these reefer outfits kind of like it if you occasionally recap.

Honestly, I hate running recaps. I'm like you, I try to burn my 70 as fast as I can with 11 hour driving days, then a 34. When I have to run recaps, I limit my non-driving on duty time as much as possible, and usually run right up to the last few minutes on my 70 if there is a truck stop at just the right place . In fact, yesterday was the 1st time I shut down with more than 5 minutes on my clock in 3 days. And there have been times when my post trip on duty time is actually in overtime (past my 70), which is perfectly legal.

My positive mood concerning my next load is being quashed by my current load. When I picked up my load in Atlanta, there was a subtle sign that one of the boxes of Coca Cola syrup had a small leak. Since nobody was around to resolve it in the plant, the guard noted the small leak on the bills, and we took pictures of it, and I sealed the trailer and left. At my consignee this a.m., they unloaded (in 4 hours) and signed the bills w/o noting any OSD. But, they put one, half empty box of syrup back on the trailer. So, I had to call our OSD dept, make a claim, send pics...and I thought I was good to go. Nope...now I am sitting here in the Love's parking lot, 2 miles from the customer, waiting to hear back from her about what to do with the 1 half empty box. She was told the last time, by coke, that the undiluted syrup is hazardous waste, and has to be disposed of at a hazardous waste facility...:biggrin_25513:...which is b.s. as a kid, when I had an upset stomach, my mom use to have a bottle of coke syrup in the medicine cabinet (that she bought at the drug store). All it was, was undiluted coke syrup. And you took a few sips of it over ice to calm an upset stomach...it wasn't hazardous. So, now I sit...waiting, and burning more of my clock up.

Oh, and for the 2nd week in a row, Deland has messaged me about my high idle time again. Told him that the half tards in PA couldn't find anything wrong(and I also said that they probably couldn't find their own head with both hands), but this truck idles more than any truck I've been assigned before, so something is most definitely wrong with it...I also told him, that these messages every week are pushing me closer to having a 0% idle in a Crete truck...as in, parking it and working for someone who has decent equipment that pays close to what I get here, instead of driving this junk and hearing this same stuff every week.

That was one of not very many nice things about hauling Primes Freight. Their contract with Walmart was that they unloaded the entire trailer no matter what was in it or it’s condition and Walmart dealt with the shipper instead of the driver.
