Some of the new cpap machines, like mine, are wifi enabled so you could download a 30 or 90 day sleep report to your phone or print it out to show the doc when you renew your medical card.

2 issues here; whether you should be using a cpap and whether you are required to use a cpap. So, logically four possibilities; don't need one and aren't required, need one but not required, don't need one but are required and lastly ned one and are required to use one.
I'm all for keeping DOT out of my medical issues. So, I don't much care for the being required to use one, whether you need it or not. But, I am set on the opinion that if you need one, you should use one. As a driver we have some unusual demands that many other occupations don't have. Getting restful sleep so you aren't drowsy or otherwise impaired while driving from lack of quality sleep is one of those.
My 2 cents is plain, if you need one, get one and use it. If you have concerns that you may need one, chances are you do. I don't care if your med certificate requires it or not. -

Can DOT regulate how much sleep I get? I use mine everyday but don't sleep much more than 6 or 7 hours and I shows that I actually slept even less than that. That's another reason I've kept the two separate

I have been using a cpap for 7 years. Funny thing, when I drove OTR before, I got so tired after driving a few miles and would stop and hop in the sleeper for a power nap. Once I started using a cpap, I not only got better sleep but lasted my entire shift without getting tired. Sometimes, these days I get a little tired but not as severe as before. So, yes, you can still drive while on a cpap regimen but remember, if issued by your company, they can shut you down if you fail to comply with their compliance policy. Happy trucking

While I know a lot about cpaps I have no idea what the rules are regarding cpaps and driving. Can anyone shed some light on it for me?
I start my CDL training at a local college in and June have to get my physical/permit before that. I currently do not have a cpap but my deductible and out of pocket have been met with my current insurance so I want to get a sleep study done.
