That’s the main part. Most drivers today under 40 could care less about a sit down restaurant. Fast food is their staple. A square meal would probably cause traumatic issues to their digestive system.
Not to mention the fact that they would rather converse on their phones than have a conversation face to face.

If you're reliant solely on truck stops to park, then yes you're right......but I'll sleep anywhere for real.

Yes of course there were more.
Truck stops that solely existed to service the industry and the drivers.
A "truck stop" today is a very rare thing.

Yup, doesnt matter if only one in 50 do this. The problem is you dont remimber the 49 other polite truckers. You remimber the ####### who knocked over your gate, dumped his piss bottle onto your lot, left his #### filled walmart bag on the ground and threw his garbage ontop of it. Or you think of names like swift for example.

Those are what come to mind for your average person. Not me or you. Throw the whaabulince chasers ontop of the mix putting up only JUST legally accurate commercials about how ####ty we are and massive multi million dollar payouts. Then mix that with a lot of O/Os especially from down south whos vehicles are just this side of a junkyard and who i have seen just dump their oil in parking lots or spray diesel everywhere....

Well. ..we have a reputation now because as with 99% of things in life, the handful of idiots ####ed it up for the rest of us.

Trucks have changed tremendously, too, with AC, APU’s, fridges, cooking apparatus, wi-fi etc. Drivers don’t NEED truck stop services like diners. They are far more self contained.

I've never seen them myself, but I would imagine they were just a small private room with only a bed.

There are videos of what trucking was like in the 1950s that show these places.

If I could find a nice meal that isn't processed, I'll gladly take it. But I usually find a nice, quiet place and eat it in peace. Nothing to do with the current world climate. Just was never a fan of the usual bugging by the staff and the noise of a crowded restaurant. "gOt rOoM fOr deSsErT?"
