I’m on a Georgia Pacific dedicated route for J Rayl, pays $1200/week. We run a lot of loads out of Monticello, maybe they have something for you.

If you're in Mississippi, I would try Empire Express of JNJ out of Memphis. Both will start you out in the 50s cpm. JNJ has a lot of incentives too. There's a guy that lives in my hometown (Murfreesboro, TN) that works for Gulf Relay out of Clinton, MS. He's turning some good miles and he's home every week just about. I stopped through there this past weekend, I saw his truck but I get a chance to talk with him this time.

Just curious how many miles you drove in that year to only earn $18k?

OP’s should be a cautionary tale to anyone thinking of getting into trucking. The lure of the ”free” company paid training may get you stuck for a year in a very low paying job.

I think that even CRST, CR England and WE pay at least twice that in the first year. I really wonder what we are missing here. PAM was losing money on that truck if the driver only made 18k. I'm quite sure they pay more than $.18 per mile. Inquiring minds want to know

I agree. There’s probably more to this story. Still, there are opportunities for new drivers to make considerably more, in their first year and thereafter, than these training companies like Pam will ever pay... Going for the “free” training ends up costing more in the long run for some.

I agree. When I started with Swift 5 years ago, tuition was $3900.00. They took $37.50 per week out of my check for the first 56 weeks (13 months), and matched it every week. No interest. After 13 months I was paid in full. Total cost for my training was $1900.00. I earned between $400.00-500.00 per week during my time with my "Mentor".....Swift speak for Trainer. Was out on the road for about 6 week with him. My tuition was paid before I even got my own Tractor Assignment. I started out at $.0.36 cpm as a solo driver. I think I grossed around $38,000.00 my first year. I was a rookie, didn't get the best routes or miles.....but.....got a great start in the industry. As much as people like to make blanket statements as to how "Training Companies" #### over their drivers.....I was treated well at Swift. Moosetek has been there for 10 EFFING YEARS! I chose to move over to a company that offered the lanes and freight that suited me

mile pay with good paying local loads would have him ####ed like that and the company laughing all the way to the bank, just another reason I never have nor will I ever work by the mile
