Just wear'em, ain't nobody looking up to see if you have earplugs on. If your hair is long enough nobody will see them, or maybe they have flesh colored earplugs. I wear them if the wind gets unbearably loud when driving. I'd like to be able to hear 20 years from now so I will manage my own ears, I don't care what the state says.

Just wear them please. As long as your hearing isn't very bad you'll be able to hear what you need to hear wtih them on. Once damaged your hearing has a high chance of never coming back. It can ruin your life. Its sad how dismissive and rude people can be when talking about ear plugs. It's not something to joke with. hearing is just as important as your vision.

A lot of people apparently already have severely damaged hearing.

I used to wear ear plugs every day all the time even sleeping sometimes when I was on a ship in the Navy. The crazy part is that if you have done this before you'd notice that the important things you need to hear are actually more distinct and much easier to hear because ear plugs actually block out noises, especially droning noises like engines and fans, and not distinct frequencies.

Also, wear them for a complete day then at the end of the day before you stop driving take them out and compare and notice how crazy loud the truck really is and how you have to blast the radio now when with the hearing protection you could set the volume much lower.
