2005 Freightliner classic has a crack in the charge air cooler should I repair or replace it? Money is not really an issue but I don't want to throw it away.

Where is it cracked? I had one crack on the bottom tube and had it repaired. If it were in the middle i would of replaced it.

What's your downtime worth? Pull it out and fix the crack and maybe fix it or maybe not. Then have to pull it again to replace. Not that either takes much time

Try jb weld and order the new one. If its your truck, and you do the labor on it, you get peace of mind and save money on a shop/downtime

I think it's on the end where the hose connects the mechanic mentioned fixing it.

    Longish.
It's a second truck I'm preparing to put to work.

It's at the shop now they found the leak.

If your going to keep it I would replace it...

Odds are very good that it's leaking elsewhere anyway.... if you fix the crack you'll still have leaks...

Even the factory new ones can leak up to 7psi
Get a duralite they guarantee ZERO leaks for 800,000 miles.

79EC66DB-4E89-435F-AB4A-665D3815F821.png Buy a new one, about $750 for an Av-tekk. Bar and Plate. Don’t throw old away, take it to the scrap yard.

Never had much luck with any repairs on coolers. I'd replace it.
