Im looking for some insights on insurance rates for owner operators. I have had a cdl since 2019. Failed a pre employment with the first company I applied to. Came up hot for weed. Since then I've completed sap found another better paying job, completed my follow ups with them . I checked my hireright report I dont see that failed dt anywhere. My name's not in the clearing house either since its from 2019. Now I want to take a step further into my career and get my own authority . Do insurance companies verify all employments ? Im wondering if they can track my bad drug test . Im not in a rush to jump ships doing just fine at the present employment saving as much as I can . How hard is it going to be to get my own thing going. Would really appreciate your responses .

I could be wrong but I don't think the insurance companies are looking for that. I don't think they check your previous employment the way that a new employer does.

I think mostly they're looking at how long you have had your CDL and what your MVR has to say. And of course where you live and the radius the truck will travel the type of freight you're hauling etcetera.

I would get the VIN number off of a truck on truck paper and just call around for insurance quotes and see what they tell you.

Stays with you FOREVER! I have a friend( serious this time) who tested +, went through the whole rigamaroll, they said it would be on their record for 5 years, then wiped away. EIGHT YEARS LATER, the DOT came in and re-tested everyone that had a +, EVER. By then, it wasn't an issue for them, but pure lies.
