Trying to help a friend who just bought a tri axle dump truck, and after sitting for a few hours it’s losing a lot of its pressure. The primary air valve has a tire fill port, is there a better place to hook up air to air up the truck? The air dryer?
How to connect shop air to air up truck?

I have Valves and quick connects on my air tanks to get air or fill tanks with air. I did have some trouble with my air governor on the truck after doing that a bunch but my shop air was at 160ish psi. Proper way would be taking hose of air compressor and putting shop air in there I suppose

When checking the complete system, I connect direct to the discharge line right at the compressor. #10 male flare with a shutoff valve and your shop hose nipple is all it takes for most older stuff.

I had to do this last spring when my truck was pinned against the wall in the polebarn and I knicked a battery cable hooking up the batteries blowing the ECM fuse under the hood. .
I pulled a drain plug off one of the air tanks and went down to Ace hardware and bought a male fitting of the same size that had a female thread to insert a male npt fitting in.stillwurkin Thanks this. -

I have a female right behind my cab but I have never used it and I have never looked to see where it goes. I can take pics and get details tomorrow but by then you will probably be all squared away...
