After 20 years of driving, I got assigned one of those new fangled auto-shift trucks. Here's my dilemma...

I can't get it to move after dark. During the day, I put it in "D" and everything is fine. After sunset though, when I put it in "N" for night mode, it won't move. The RPM's go up, but nothing happens.

The worst though was when another driver pulled up next to me and wanted to race. I thought ok, cool, so I put in "R" and that's when everything went wrong. The light turned green, I mashed on the throttle but the truck went backwards and slammed into the truck behind me.

Now the boss is threatening to fire me, and the mechanics and other drivers are laughing and picking on me.

    Any help would be appreciated...

    :D:p;)

If your foot is not on the dashboard then it will not operate properly.

The D R and N only apply to white Volvos with Illinois tags.

You were not wearing proper footwear. Please put on your flip-flops.

Put on some ear buds, the ear buds will tell you what to do.

Without Specific Information of Model Year, Make, Engine, 6 or 10 wheel Tractor, Color, Swivel or stationary Seat, Sleeper or Day Cab, there's not much relevant help available apart from the, now 4, suggestions.
You're best to stand down but happily receive your admonishing, sarcasms and hysterical Laughter.
Please cease to operate such an obviously confusing and OTHER LIFE threatening vehicle and return to your former glory or take up knitting.
    Thank You 4 your Tym!

Reminds me of a joke I use to know back in the 70’s.
I forget the whole joke, but the punch line was:
    “Then I put it in R rrr-race”

Doesn’t the R have to be backwards? :biggrin_25523:

You're gonna have to go Swift driving school and learn to "properly" drive an automatic truck.

slow.rider and Lumper Humper Thank this.

Mine is starting to act funny. In over 20 years of trucking I’ve never broken a manual transmission, but it will be funny if this automatic boat anchor quits at 200K miles. :biggrin_25523:
