I like the idea, I'm not thrilled about running around with a light steer axle all the time!

And if you don’t have 2 cars on every load you’d probably loose a lot of revenue.

Never. You'd only be washing half the truck.

They also won't do the inside even if you only have one car on top.

    Banker and BigBob410 Thank this.

Absolutely not for me. Maybe a guy hauling used cars to the auction where they don’t inspect. New cars I can see multiple claims due to rock chips. All it takes is one pebble to be blown off a side rail into a unit for a rock chip.

Do a majority of companies put car haulers In hotels for the night? I see several day cabs running too but hardly any of the sleeper trucks at truck stops either.

Day cabs yes, some sleepers but depends on the company and not every night. You don't see many car haulers in the truck stops at night because they don't fit well. Way too easy to have the load damaged so car haulers try their best to park where other trucks don't. I rarely ever stayed in a truck stop, usually found a quiet spot real close to my pickup or drop location -often staying at the drop location or a nearby auction facility.

Even smaller companies like mine, the risk of damage to cargo is too high. Consider the high number of vehicles getting their cat converters stolen. Some of those puppies cost over $1000 on the precious metal market. I try with all my heart to never be at a truck stop with a load, unless it's a junker or something. It's not worth the insurance claim at all.

Here are some of the reasons that I know:
-Stopped overnight at pickup or dropoff location dealership
-Stopped overnight at auto auction for pickup or dropoff (Think Manheim or Adesa)
-Stopping at company yards. (A few big companies have regional yards)
-A lot of car haulers work the regional market, as most dealerships buy within only a few hundred miles, so they return to their yard or home at the end of each day.

Most of my customers buy within 2hrs, only a few customers buy or ship between 3-6hrs away, think cost.
