So would that be 29.5% of the net?

I get percentage pay , I'm told what the load pays upfront and it's always on my statement. I work for a small company, no trust issues here.
I like the percentage way because if the truck makes good money, I make good. There's incentive for the truck to do good.

    Companies shave off miles too.
“I bet 10 miles will get them across LA or Atlanta.”

Maybe at a fly by night outfit, but any decent place will just pull the mileage off a mapping program. On my board, google maps rarely varies from the listing by more than 5 miles, and sometimes the error is in my favor.

I'm a company driver for a small family run intermodal carrier, I'm paid a split of hourly and percentage. Anything within 100 air miles is hourly, beyond that I currently get 30% of gross, less FSC or ancillary charges that are unrelated to me hauling the load. Drivers always talk about how mileage pay sucks, the reality, hourly and percentage pay can some times be very close, and will almost always be better than per mile pay. When I say almost always, if you start at the bottom of the totem poll, those first couple years, percentage pay and mileage pay will often be equal, but as you work your way up, percentage can sometimes outstrip hourly.

It's not always about honesty, it could be protecting their rates. We have one O/O, on his settlement statements, she will give him the information, but not for us company drivers. In part because our O/O is paid differently than us, and it's a requirement in the contract, also, she's been burned in the past by revealing that info to a driver who then quits, goes to work for a competitor and tells them what the other company charges.

It depends on the company, my percentage is based on amount billed to the broker/customer, less FSC and ancillary charges unrelated to me doing the job (chassis rentals, rail or yard storage, repair charges and similar). There have been loads where I've made a killing because of percentage pay on detention charges or a layover charge. Couple years back, I had a HHG load that was supposed to take 3 hours, took 11 hours, I'm not sure what the boss charged the steamship/mover, but it doubled my pay for the week.

I made 29.5 percent of gross.
It was a sweet gig until the owner started undercutting the amount of revenue the truck was making on the loads. And made the brokers quit telling me what the load paid.

I ran percentage one time for a small company. Stole from me every paycheck. Never again. 25% of nothing is nothing.
