The specs weren't on their website. But their generous pay scale is....

So you monthly truck payments are going to be $2275.00 plus fuel, insurance, 2290, tattletale, & every other little fee.

How are you going to pay it all with 92 cents per mile?

dunno where you get 2275, payments alone would be 525x4=2100. that being said...let me list my way of thinking so boy-wonder, outerspace, can laugh and call me stupid some more:

loaded miles ran for the last week, 2577; MT miles, 199; 2345.07 loaded pay; 163.19 MT pay; fuel surcharge 628.78 (taking that as an average from 3 fuel stops that total 950.91, 336 gal at an average of 2.83/gal. or .244 cpLm fuel surcharge), 3137 gross, figure 750 for truck payment, insurances/qualcomm/etc, fuel-950.91, 333.12 for maintence 1103 pretax.

i'm sure someone will point out somewhere i'm missing some $500 bill for something....so please, show me my flawed thinking.... after taxes and health insurance, my take home would be around $700.

and i know someone will first come flyin' in and say "well what about the weeks you only get 2000 miles". I havent had a 2000 mi week for months. My DM knows i wont stay out here making $300 a week.

as for a previous post....one who said "what if the miles dry up and the company goes belly up"....You honestly think Swift will go belly up? Werner is in worse shape than Swift, along with Jim Palmer. Swift has undercut the competition (maybe thats why they're hated so much?) and has made freight cheap, who do u think is getting more of the available freight miles that are out there? the independants are only getting a small fraction of whats out there on the table. that is because they want $10/mi for everything. My point being, Swift isnt going anywhere. I remember how everyone said "swift wont survive past the end of the year", and that was in 2008.

Yeah, Swift won't screw you.

Leasing from the company that controls your freight is an extremely bad idea because you take on all of the risk with neither commensurate control, nor reward. You are nothing more than a glorified company driver, except they can walk away without losing their shirt.

You appear to lack the maturity to make a sound decision, and by your own admission lack the financial resources to do it properly.

Do yourself a favour and heed the advice you've been given ... I am sure your experience will be different than the thousands that have gone before you (sic). Although if you don't, the ensuing trainwreck will be entertaining to watch.

    $525.00 a week multiplied by 52 weeks in a year divided by 12 months is a year = $2275.00

Since you seem you can't do simple math... I suggest you stay in a company truck. There are many other items to look at other then the price of the truck. If you don't investigate all the details then your just setting yourself up for failure.

Trust me... I speak from experience.

    outerspacehillbilly Thanks this.

you know azzhole, instead of coming down calling me stupid, how about pointing out (like a professional you claim to be) where i am in error. you would have made a better impression saying, "here is where you're misguided..." instead of feeling the need to throw negitivity my way. why dont you share what other items to look at other THAN (not then) the price of the truck?? here is another idea.....why dont you share your "experience"....share with us how STUPID you were, and where you made your mistake??? gotta love it when someone has such a bright idea, but dont care to share it.

    525x208=109200
525x52x4 is STILL 109,200. 109,200 + 49,000 is still $160k...either way you cut it. weekly payments dont change "just because". either way you cut it, you still have 208 payments.

***here is anothe way of looking at it....you go out and finance a new truck thru a bank or whoever, the truck costs $108,000, you'll be LUCKY to pay $125,000 for it after all said and done. yeah, there is a BIG difference between paying $125k and $160....but thats also my house. so now i've got a $40,000 house paid for in 4 years. =) *** (the last part is just me being "stupid")

    MS Carriers wasn't going anywhere
    Dick Simon wasn't going anywhere
    Cannon Express just disappeared
What was that one in New Jersey that just closed shop?
YRC has been around a lot longer then SWIFT... Are they going to survive?
St. Micheal's Express wasn't going anywhere
    SMX was financially secure
    Who did Celedon just Swallow?
    Bud Meyer wasn't going anywhere
    PST wasn't going no where
Burlington Motor Express wasn't going anywhere

There are 100's of companies that weren't going anywhere.... Then the next day they had padlocks on the doors. Just because SWIFT is moving a little bit of freight does not mean they are turning a profit. You nor do I see whats going on in the accounting department. Neither one of us know if they are losing their butts or turning a marginal profit... But the companies I listed above were strong companies as well one day... And the next they were gone!
