The trash haulers that empty the dumpsters at night behind businesses are always looking for drivers.

The problem is you will still need training at your first job, and any reputable employer will be unwilling to invest in a driver who can only work 1-2 days a week.

You’d be better off doing it the other way around, driving during the week and finding a part-time accounting gig for the weekends. As you noted, there’s no shortage of trucking jobs in KC, and it’s definitely a place where you can find a job right out of CDL school that pays $60k+ and gets you home daily.

Keep in mind also a lot of companies will not hire part time people to drive trucks if they have jobs and other large fleets like FedEx may require a weekly accounting of hours and limit the time you are allowed driving.

    Dockbumper Thanks this.

It’s not a bad gig if you don’t mind working at night . You hop out and open the gate , drive up and dump , back up , hip out and close the gate and , and drive to the next one .
Some pay by the hour and some pay by the stop. but it’s usually pretty good money .

Not in my hometown. Unless you work for the City. Private haulers, roll off /construction dumpsters, etc. Pay 12-15 per hour.

    It varies.

there’s one near me I looked at for a part time gig , and they pay $25 per round trip from their transfer facility to a landfill and back.
I’ve seen how long you wait in line at a landfill.

some of the places pay good and some don’t ,
    Like every other job,
    You gotta shop around

. I know waitresses who make peanuts and some who make big bucks .

I doubt you can pull off 10 round trips in a day!

    Yep.
Same at motels. All of The housekeeping staff are quite un attractive. But only some of the desk clerks are elephants .
