I like being left alone and I like money. I like being paid for the work I do, not hourly or salary. If I work, pay me. If not, then don't.

I was in Sacramento and happen to look at a Sunday paper at a freinds. Had an ad in there saying they would pay my transportation to Billings, Mt, Put me up in a hotel and feed me, teach me how to drive a truck and get my CDL. All for free. 12 days from the first day in the classroom to having my CDL in hand. Was in late April and had to agree to work for them into early September. Pay wasn't great but I made $500 to $650 a week. In 1996. Turned out I loved doing it and the rest is history

I was born that way. Never wanted to do anything else. At 6 I told my dad I would own a trucking company someday. My dad, uncles and a few cousins all hauled cattle. My uncle would take me with him when I was 13 and let me drive at night across Kansas when he was headed back to pick up fats going back to pepper packing in Denver. One of my older friends was hauling cattle, grain and hay and would pay me 20 dollars a day and let me drive when I was 16. I was in heaven. Couldn’t believe how fortunate I was. So thank God 44 years later I’m still enjoying trucking.
