I just wonder if everyone already rebounded? Or your business permanently lost some of it.
This is my second year. I survived my first year because I had one customer who kept me going when everything shut down. The guy lowered my rate which he was supposedly bring it up. That did not happen. I'm staying since it's my second year and things are unknown.
But I do NOT have any backhaul loads for the lanes I am running. I used to have them. After the shut down they are pretty much gone unless one wants to haul over 40,000 lbs. Fuel went up in the meantime.
Before anyone jumps into conclusions by saying to change lanes, I have to stay where I am since I need some predictability when paying off my loans, at least to the end of this year.
Did you loose your regular lanes?

Car hauling business has been good. I've got buddies that do intermodal/drayage that are staying super busy. Plenty of work out there my friend

So, there are just a few up there that aren't so lucky.
Some are stuck so it seems. -
My company made more profit in 2020 then in any prior 12 years. This has been a wild last 12 months to say the least.
shanman, Banker, feldsforever and 4 others Thank this. -
I think I already told you in a different thread, you are making a mistake doing what you do. Everybody else made way more money post vs pre lockdown besides you. Being scared of unknown does you no good. Its like having a ####ty 9-5 job for $10hr and afraid of leaving, because you are comfortable and got used to it.
dunchues, Opendeckin, Siinman and 11 others Thank this. -
feldsforever, 77fib77, Beaver9 and 1 other person Thank this.

That predictability helped me survive. But I might be doing it wrong. With so many loans, I am hesitant, I admit. I guess the loyalties are non existent in this business. And one needs to jump.
feldsforever Thanks this. -
Loyalty to self. That comes first.
If you barely made money in the height of the best rates, ever: When rates fall you’ll be losing what you now have anyway.Opendeckin, Spartan101, Roger McG and 8 others Thank this. -
It is better not to assume your loyalty to paid back with their loyalty. Even the megas can lose their contracts, customers and lanes. Not uncommon for certain carriers to bribe - one way or another - shipping directors to win bids for their accounts. I'd like to have long term stability and predictability too but for one truck and and trailer guy that's too much to ask.
