Anyone know who treats their equipment better between Decker and Warner?

Given a choice between only those 2 companies I’d say decker. Werner puts rookies behind the wheel and who knows what kind of previous training they’ve had. Also look close at their tractors, they all have a sticker on the door that says DONT FORGET YOUR PRE TRIP. That says all I need to know. Any driver worth 2 cents will at least check over their equipment before they leave. I’m not saying do a full blown level 1 DOT style inspection, but at least check the basics to prevent break downs.
Now, for the best maintained trucks? I can’t think of one company in particular BUT I’d have to say it’s a certain type of driver/truck combo. Usually it’s an owner/operator, someone who has a financial interest in keeping his truck running in good condition. This driver has a clean rig that regardless of age still looks excellent and doesn’t have missing parts or bungee cords holding things together. Usually you’ll find them driving a Peterbilt/Kenworth long nose but not always. These are usually drivers who have been doing this for awhile and they take the utmost pride in their rides.

 

no, they are outlaws, they dont take care of their equipment like a fine outfit like werner does, havnt you seen their trailers, safety first. lol

 

Werner does oil changes and service based on gallons used. So if tractor is really fuel efficient can lead to 60k plus oil change intervals. They like most fleets do the least amount they have too. The amount of trucks they buy warranty and lack of pm’s get them away with a lot
They also do not believe in doing overheads. I know from experience working at Detroit dealer in Omaha. I wouldn’t give you a wooden nickel for the ragged out junk they sell. They clean them up and put lipstick on pigs.

A buddy of mine works for decker, he says they’re good, also I’ve seen more trash Werner trucks myself.
