I have a storage place for all my stuff (I'm not a young man and have accumulated too many things I do not wish to part with). Storage place also gives me a place to stow winter clothes stuff in the summer and summer stuff in the winter.
My 'legal' address is actually my daughter's house. Basically, it's where I get my mail and gives me a place to register to vote, etc.
When I go 'home' I go visit my ex-wife, 2 sons and daughter and stay at my ex-wife's place. (My ex-wife is still my bff. Long story)
The biggest draw back for me is I can no longer claim head of household on my taxes and I end up paying significantly more in income tax because of that. But, not as much as renting some place I would hardly be at would cost me.

    Gypsy88 and dwells40 Thank this.

No, No reason to pay rent for nobody living there....
Totally workable, get a PO Box near the terminal (or better yet in Vegas or a place that does not have state income tax... Use a friend's house as a mailing address, lots of ways to do it, Private POB will forward your mail to the terminal, just check with your terminal to make sure they will accept the mail. There is no law that forces you to maintain a residence that you do not occupy at least that I know of, and watch the money build up in the checking account... The people who will argue are also the people who have a home landline phone, with the cellphone on the table right bedise it.
If your single, your crazy not to use every legal angle to get ahead. The one thing I do recommend is purchase a home as soon as you have a good down payment, this is paying into your own future, and giving you a hedge against future rent/mortgage, and pay it off as soon as you can.

Yes... I stay out 3 months at a time.
Own a home in South Dakota.
Officially on everything. My residence address is my personal mailbox. Have it with Americas Mailbox, in Box Elder, SD.
They do very good. I can look at mail online. They’ll scan it. Anything I want.
Have a good Credit Union account. Been claimed to be one of the best for travelers.

Negative, Ghost rider. I'm in my 40's, very little family that I'm on good relations with, friends that I AM in good relations with but transporting my good to where they live (2-3 in WA state, 1 in TX) isn't really doable.

Pretty much all points I've been considering for the past few years. Mind you, I'd probably do all this next year, after getting my CDL & having some experience under my belt. I'd probably take a month off, buy a van, fill it with my goods I wanted to keep, move to NV/SD/TX/OR/AK... wherever the money & work is, ya know?

    I'm the opposite...
We have so much crap that when we move we'll both drive u-hauls and still have to hire a bed bugger.

is this privy to just South Dakota? What about other no-state tax states (Florida, Tennessee, Nevada...)?

I think about 50 per month for a medium size. Its a little steep but I actually drive past several other UPS stores to go to the one with decent Google reviews though.

A friend of mine did this at the end of his third year purchased a house for cash, Mind you he had some of it saved to start with, certainly helped in the long run.

Where have you been. You don't need to be a Citizen, have any ID, reside in the State you vote in,or even be alive to vote in the United States. You really need to catch up!
