Snackbar is chillin'....at Shaffer

Not sure what terminal you're dreaming about, the ones I've seen only have a few loaners, trade trucks that haven't been unstickered or ones from driver's who recently quit. The reason I got stuck with this one was because the new trucks coming in were coming in too slowly to keep up with trades and they were running out of trucks to assign, so they were assigning ones that were in shop status, then pushing the parts changers to get the trucks fixed in a rush. This isn't Poly where there is a line of trucks sitting in the bobtail line waiting for parts...

I actually rinsed out both the dash and the bunk filters about a month ago... thankfully they use those blue reusable inserts. And the coils didn't look to cruddy, so they must be better at changing or cleaning the filters than they use to be. One of the old century class I drove, the dash filter hadn't been changed, ever. When they pulled it out, it looked like a wool blanket that had been rolled in mud, then left outside for a few years.

 

Well, I am preplanned on 3 loads. The 1st has to drop in SoCal by 1500 today out of the Phoenix yard...but, they had to make things complicated. 30 min before I got the pplans, I get a message from my A/M telling me to go to the Phoenix yard after I drop this load in Casa Grande and report to the office. After I asked what was up, and do I need to start packing my stuff (this all came about after I sent my Asst FM my latest reply about his idle time message), my AM said I wasn't in trouble, but I just had to see the office people...which usually means a piss test. So, now I'll have to wait until they come in after 7, go where ever they do the test, and then get back to the yard, pick up my load and have 6 or so hours to make it to SoCal to drop. If I don't make the 1st one on time, that screws the other 2 up (and I lose out on around 2800 miles thru next Weds.)

 

The crazy thing is, they want us to pre-cool the truck before setting the opti-idle. Which baffles me. I mean, do they think we are cruising down the road with the windows down and the a/c off, then suddenly realize 'oh crap, I am stopping for the night, so I better turn on the a/c'. But they also want us to shut it down whenever we aren't in the truck. So then the inside get's hot. I would like them to explain how I am suppose to pre-cool that, without running the engine. They use to advise precooling when we had the battery pack systems, but everything is run off the main engine now...shows how out of touch the management of this company is. I'll make him a deal, when I come into a company office and the a/c is off and everyone in there is sweating their butt off, just to save a few bucks on electricity...then I will do the same, until then 'pound sand desk jockey'

 

Well, if they're doing this because I get grumpy...they better stock up on piss tests.

Wylie did that to a couple drivers when I was there...get a little pissey with them...go pee in a cup. One driver, just before I allegedly resigned, told me that he went 3 months in a row.

 

Of those trucks, how many are the trades they haven't decommissioned, or new trucks they haven't gotten registered and road ready...plus a lot of drivers park their trucks at the yard for hometime, so what you can see from the road might not be available trucks...just sayin
