    That's bull crap.
These mega companies are still hiring a couple
    Hundred drivers per week.
You think there sending them all home for months
To wait for a truck. That's ridiculous.

To even think a company the size of Crete has not
One empty truck sitting somewhere in the whole country
Is just as ridiculous. Every week some drivers quit.
They could give him one of those trucks.

    There's only 2 reasons a big company won't let
    You change trucks.
Either they don't like you and hope you quit,
Or they want you to run the last few miles out
On a truck before they can trade it in.

If they like you enough, they will find you
    Another truck. Somewhere,someplace.
You might have to take a load somewhere to get it.
If they want to keep you around they'll find one.

Do the math..they’re not hiring because they a lot full of excess trucks..when they hire 100 a week and 100 quit..the trucks are open for new hires..they dont have 100’s of trucks just sitting around.

Regardless. They have a truck somewhere that he could change into. I would tell them to $&@?off over the opti idle issue. Idle the truck and be comfortable. As long as he stays out that’s the least they need to worry about. If they fire him over this bs then just move on to another mega. Where he lives that’s his only option according to him. Every time I read about this I thank god I don’t have to deal with any of this. Mega’s suck. I don’t care what color the truck is.

    Doesn't change my point.
If they like you enough they will find
    Another truck for you.
    New guys be ######.
This applies across the whole industry.

All companies big and small have small
Group of drivers that they take care of first.
Obviously you never been in this group.
They'll bend over backwards to keep these
    Guy/ girls happy.

    They can count on them,
    Their dependable,
They go coast to coast in any weather,
They don't tear up equipment or get tickets.
And Most importantly they don't ##### and moan
    About everything.

In other words they make everybody in the
    Offices job easier.
You keep believing what they're telling you.
Trust me, there's some drivers a Crete,
That if they're motor blew up tomorrow,
They would have another new truck for them
    The next day.

No reason a driver with 10 years
    Experience should be fighting dispatchers
And safety guys over idle time everyday.
Like he has no clue what he's doing.
That's the stuff they harass rookies with.

Would be a series of really short naps, they have a 180 second timer that shuts the truck off unless it's really hot, or really cold.

When I picked this truck up in Deland I was one of 6 drivers being sent from various other terminals to pick up trucks that were still in shop status. Think of todays trucking companies like a roller coaster line, the riders in the returning cars have to get out, before the next group gets in. Plus, every truck now has to be decontaminated when a driver gets out because of covid liability.

Looking at some of our trucks that are in the revolving truck plan, decontaminating wouldn’t work, a bonfire would, but not decontaminating.

Tell me about it. When I was picking this truck up, I noticed one of the mechanics standing outside one of the trucks that was in for some emissions work, with the truck door partially closed. (The driver was switched to another truck) He was trying to trigger a forced regen with his laptop because the switch on the dash wouldn't do it. I asked him why not do that from inside where the a/c is nice and cool...he opened the door and this gawdawful funk of b.o. hit me like a wave...it almost made me heave...he said they may have to ozone the interior before they reassign that truck to the next driver after they get it fixed.

That is definitely one thing if people speak to a lot of these mechanics in this industry they would tell you the crap that they see in some of these trucks is out right disgusting
