Your wife has the benifits that's good. Truck prices are high right now. Biggest obstacle at this point. Yeah landstar hauling thier van is a cheap monthly nut right now. You get 65% of the line haul. You only pay for permits, eobr, plates and bobtail insurance. With out plates I pay about $300 a month. So overhead is low. But they are taking 35%. Now you need a place to park your rig and trailer.

    Where do you live?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am comfortable enough for at least 6 months. This has been a dream for along time and I have been preparing for it.

Thanks. I agree and allot of thought has gone this way. We are all set with Health insurance. My wife is going to continue working and handles the insurance. She has 5 weeks vacation per year so we will be using that for our road trips throughout the year.
We still have at least 10 years to retirement but we are planning on using her vacation time throughout the year to see the country and at least I’m getting paid for it.

One thing I have never paid for is home time parking for my truck. Every time the truck comes home, it needs at least a couple things done. I put it in the shop, and leave it there through my hometime.

Most bigger truck shops have trailer drop parking too, and will let you keep a trailer there if your truck is having work done.

    drivinhome and 77fib77 Thank this.
