I might be working as a fork lift driver at a very narrow dock. dangerously narrow. and this company removed all their doors and don't even have a rope or chain in front of the doors. Obviously it isn't safe but if it's legal they can do what they want. I have never seen such a crappy dock. Is this not some type of safety or OSHA issue?
Is it legal for a dock to not have doors?

But, yeah, you might have an OSHA issueCowboyrich, bzinger, snowlauncher and 1 other person Thank this. -
i’ve seen plenty of outside docks, so an inside dock with no door should be fine. But I’m pretty sure they need to have a chain or some sort of gate in place when there is no trailer in the dock.

Wear your seatbelt and keep your hands inside the ride at all times.

Yeah, those chains I used to see across the open dock doors would really stop you from going out the door on a forklift. Lol.
But you can call OSHA and request a inspection. Anonymously. They might not even figure out who called.NavigatorWife, Bean Jr., Socal Xpress and 3 others Thank this. -
Like a door or chain will stop a fork truck....
Useless "safety" regulations that don't improve safety and makes the job more work.NavigatorWife, Accidental Trucker, Bean Jr. and 5 others Thank this. -

An inside flatbed dock is just a 75 foot hole with yellow lines painted around it.

I’m sure it’s legal. I’m also sure it’s quite the liability first time someone falls through it.
Food for thought. Read the safety instructions (aka disclaimer) on your push style lawn mower. There’s a bit in there about use of the mower for unintended purposes.
It’s there because some low brow, potato head tried to use one as a hedge clipper and whacked his hand off.
Here’s the craziness of our legal system. He sued the lawn mower manufacturer and won because there wasn’t anything warning him he shouldn’t do that.
Yup, you can’t fix stupid, but you can make one rich...Cowboyrich, RockinChair, NavigatorWife and 6 others Thank this.
