So I’ve read about doing the CDL training at Knight but it says you’ll be assigned a mentor to train with for 2 weeks. I am a woman, and prefer spending 2 weeks with a woman instead of a man.
Also, I heard (through the grapevine) someone went to do their training for 2 weeks and was left out for 3 months. Like always made excuses for them not to go back.... I’m super excited I already have my permit and have been driving for a year with my hubby, but I would rather have the schooling due to all the new rules and regulations. I’m used to paper logs, no eld, etc..
All and any help will be appreciated! Thank you!

Request a female trainer… it would be a near certainty that you would get one for the simple fact companies would like to stay away from the potential legal troubles that occur when you start mixing males with females in the truck as far as training is concerned...
as far as the other stuff that you’ve heard about them allegedly keeping a student out for months I wouldn’t buy it I think somebody just the Bs’ing. -

Female Drivers
CFI is proud to support female truck drivers.
One of our very own female drivers, Stephanie Klang, was named as an ATA’s America’s Road Team Captain. Stephanie surpassed an incredible milestone of driving over three million safe miles!

Why can't you train with your husband? Did you not say you were driving with him already?

I know someone on this board who went to Knight. He wanted to pull cans from a harbor to the big city he lived in. He was told sure we can do that.
After waiting 2-3 weeks for a trainer all they had was a refrigerated trainer. They said go with him. He was then told he couldn’t switch to the Intermodal from reefers. He ended up leaving.JoeyJunk and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Most companies will ask the new driver for their trainer preferences. Gender, pets or not, smoker, crazy or sane. Stuff like that. They do it to try to maximize compatibility in order to minimize trouble. I suspect Knight does that as well given the size of their operation. In your case tell them that a female is non-negotiable (in a polite way). It might take a bit longer to get on a truck, or maybe not. You can also ask the recruiter. They BS, but probably not about that.
NavigatorWife Thanks this.
