Had the same problem, some dealerships call it an awning that helps disperse the DEF more evenly. There is a nationwide shortage of this part in the system, we did two forced regens, and then I went to DPF alternatives and had the filter baked and cleaned. Knock on wood it’s been running fine since.

I would probably have the filters cleaned while it's taken apart unless it's been done recently. DPF alternatives did a good job with my DOC and DPF filters, it was like $250 I think and a 24 hour turnover. They ultrasonically clean it, bake it, blow it, and flow test it.

This can be an endless process.
How much would it cost to replace the whole aftertreatment system?
I mean 100%, every filter, every sensor, every harness, every tank, every hose, every bolt and nut.
Making it factory new like .

If you’re going to pay someone $15k plus I’d say.

A new one-box is around $15k I’ve heard (no experience with DD15’s) so if you’re talking new def tank, all new sensors everywhere, new def lines, and labor at $150/hour or so.....I would bet you’d spend every bit if $25k for what you’re wanting to do.

I was told that the new One-Box I got under warrantee 230k miles ago would have cost me 12k. Not sure if that is the entire aftertreatment system though. It's at least most of it.

I plan on having the filters replaced next time I'm home. Trying to minimize time and expenses out on the road.

How are your coolant temps through this whole process? I might have mentioned it on here before but my BMW X5 diesel was known for having a failing thermostat, which wouldn't get it up to operating temp, which then wouldn't allow regens and plug the DPF. Some owners reported issues with the DEF doser getting clogged up with crystals, washing it in warm water usually dissolved the mess. NoX sensors were notorious for failing across almost any diesel platform, Mercedes, BMW, Chevy, even my Freightliner M102 with a Cummins ISC in it. They are usually the main culprit for all these woes, and averaged $500 each. If you can get them from Detroit for $250 a pop, that's a steal and a half.

Coolant temps have been behaving, with no odd behavior noted.
