Do not do dollar general. Consider learning something else besides driving a box around as well.

I went to the Marten website. It looks pretty good. They have a guaranteed minimum of $1,250 per week. Which comes out to 65k per year but then you're not getting paid on hometime (I'm assuming). I'm wondering how many miles are needed per week to get that $1,250 per week minimum (I know Shipex and Great Plains out of ND and a few other companies have guaranteed minimums too).
I'de be worried about forced chaining or forced to drive during the winter time to get that guaranteed minimum. Or if they have to start the work day exactly once their 10 hour break is up each and every day. Normally I think those guaranteed minimums have stipulations like that (could be wrong though I don't know).
This is what it said on Marten's website it looks like a good company.

If I'm driving I can make like $250+ in a day. But when I calculate probably about 1-3 hours in a dock per day where they pay $20 per hour it comes out to something like $235 realistically. As far as hometime is concerned on a dedicated they plan around giving you 48hours off on the weekend. And I believe they allow you to save up a certain amount of days per year that you get off PAID. I think it's 2 weeks per year or something if you satisfy a certain criteria. But you can't roll that time over into the next year. Either you take the paid leave or they just give you the paid time off as a bonus check.
as far as weather - their policy says if the roads call for chains then they don't want you to drive. And while you are not driving I believe they pay you $20 an hour.Just passing by and dwells40 Thank this. -
