Is the grass greener? I am new. I am with Schneider. My rate per mile is less than what my "recruiter " offered wich is less than what was in my offer letter. I was told 95% DnH but relatity is 60% live load. Of my live loads/unloads I would say 60% are over 5-6 hours. When Schneider does grace me with detention pay, it is $10 a hour after the first 2 hours. My latest detention pay battle was 34 days long. 34 days after I was aware they had no interest in paying me. Complaints about pay with Schneider resulted with more live loads and assignments barely over short route limit. I just want to make a buck. I want OTR and have no issues being away from home for months at a time.

The grass will get greener. Not sure if you are leased on or a company driver. Either way starting out is rough with any company. But I would say $10 a hour for detention is supper low. However, having to wait to get paid detention in not uncommon. Now I have never worked with them directly outside of dealing with the brokerage a little here and there but even then not much. Talk to some of the drivers that have been around longer and if it gets better for them. But I know most drivers in general will say get your experience and then look for a smaller company. But there are drawbacks to that also. I do wish you luck driver.

imho if you can go a year there is better work and pay...
If you can go 3 years without any issues then the world is your oyster -
I have never had to fight over detention pay at Swift. It is always on my next check - without me having to ask about it.
Last I checked it was $16 per hour, but it might be more now. And yes, always after 2 hours because that is the standard time for a live load/unload.
And I have never been penalized on loads when I have complained about something, or when I've turned down loads I don't want.Six9GS, rachi, slow.rider and 1 other person Thank this. -
