Owner OP LCV rates

Guys, why are you working for those rates? They are taking advantage of you/us. Your fuel will cost approx $1.10/mile (loaded fuel mileage). You will be lucky if you hit 500mi per day. There is not much left for you or your truck after that. WE have to start saying NO, we can’t run for free.

 

Ok, but I am telling you that both you and the truck will be left with $300/day after paying fuel. If you are ok with that then that’s fine.

 

There’s still decent rates to be had out West here. It’s just not in the van and reefer segments. Those are entry level, they’re always going to be weak.

Trimac has a number of ads out right now for tank work in Alberta. $2.05/M for B-trains, $1.56/M for tridems & $1.495/M for tandem. Fuel surcharge at 70%. In Regina they’ve got an opening for O/O hauling asphalt. $105/hr. It’s seasonal but the ad says they’ll put you on other work after if you are worth keeping.

Trimac isn’t fun to work for, it’s a highly political environment there and they don’t like to spend money on buying nice trucks or keeping the fleet looking good. Maintenance, damage repairs and washes are very minimal. But the pay is decent if you can tolerate all of the other BS they’ve got going on.

 

I'm just curious what are considered good rates within Canada? We used to pull dedicated loads from Toronto to Moncton, NB and the rate was $2700US (apparently Amazon pays in usd) and it was roughly $2.50 per mile. Backhaul was 1.80 per mile. I know we pull cheap freight occasionally from Michigan, but don't remember the rates.

 

$2/km or $3.20/mi at 63,500kg is where you need to be for the old rule of thumb (1/3 fuel, 1/3 truck, 1/3 driver).

 

I made a few calls recently off Loadlink and Super B was paying around $3.50 CAD a mile out of Alberta and local (before negotiating)
