Who is 100% on their own here?

    Here's the way I've always looked at a spare truck. If it's worth having at all it's worth money. I'd rather have the money. Trucks don't like to sit. As soon as you jump in that spare truck that's been sitting for a year it's gonna need a bunch of stuff too.

    I would rather just have a bunch of money saved. If the truck goes down go home, take a day or a week off.

    I do recommend being set up with Penske or someone where you could rent/lease one if needed, like if yours was in the body shop for awhile, but I need to take my own advice. I've been meaning to get set up for years and haven't done it.

    So if we go that route do we even need to notify our insurance guy? Or is all covered under Penske or Ryder?

    I kept one for 3 years with non truck insurance in my personal name. Not business. It just sat. Now I'm to the point if I breakdown I just enjoy the down time. But I'm also the guy repairing it. Sold the backup. Now if mine got wrecked I would just go buy something cheap to roll. Till I found what I wanted.

    Wasn't worth it, and the idea of employees has passed me.

    Yes, progressive last I know wanted any commercial vehicle with them. My business sold mine back to myself. No longer owned by the company.

    I insured mine, because my shop insurance doesn't cover titles vehicles in building.

    Non truck, fire, and theft.

    Got 4 old trucks, ‘75 W900A, ‘77IH 4070B, ‘89 W900B, and ‘93 W900L. All of them need something fixed on them but all in all I’m not afraid to drive them anywhere or anytime. I’ve got 2 hopper bottoms, frameless end dump, bull rack and a lowboy trailer. Do mostly ag related jobs and pick my jobs. I try to be accommodating to folks and I’m always honest( fudge a little with DOT) and expect the same from my customers and the guys I run with.

    And I see the States have raise their OSOW permit rates! Ohio has doubled!
