My father told me , in a vehicle , if you only break one law at a time,
    You’ll be fine.

and if your hopping off the big road to dodge the scales, don’t take the easier route , take the slightly more scenic route .

same with dodge a major traffic jam, everyone’s gps is telling them to take the shortest easiest route around .
So take the slightly longer route around and you’ll probabaly get around faster since the gps is telling everyone else to take a different road .

Depending on how overweight you are it could easily be more than a weeks pay.

They use those to stick it to the local farmers during peak harvest season... Occasionally real truckers get caught up in it as well.

They can if the officer in the scale calls or radios dispatch and has them relay it to available units in the area.

The other day I got the red light on my prepass, but the sign said closed, the ramp happened to be full. I kept on going.
I go out of my way to make sure the truck is legal. I don’t need any unnecessary stress, and surely don’t need any “stupid tax”. Over weight fines are avoidable, therefore they are “stupid tax”.

No one asked how much over on steers?

He's probably not heavy at all.

Tickets, not ticket. If you are overweight on an axle, that’s 1 ticket. If you are overgross, that’s another. And blowing by the scale is yet another.

    Story time:

Had a crane move from Houston to HainesCityFL. We stopped at the TA in MariannaFL. Next morning, we all step out on the bigroad. Hit that eastbound coop. I’m up front. Scale master comes out, ‘Morning Ma’am.’ “Morning driver.” She takes my OSOW permit, walks to the front of the truck to verify my baseplate against the permit. She looks at the interstate and sees one of us, flagged and bannered, OSOW blowing the scale. She points angrily at him and he toots the horn. She whips out the phone and makes a call.

You would have thought that drive robbed a bank. 4 HPs had him cornered. They were at the back of the truck when I went by, pointing out his lack of beacon lights. One cop had the green and white Bible in hand giving a driver a new religion. Another had his ticket book out taking notes.

Got MT and went to the TA of Wildwood. Driver got in right before dark. Still loaded.

‘Why the heck did you run that scale?’

“But Six, my prepaid blinked green!”

Oversize and permit loads must stop as indicated by signage at many scales.

And some, especially near the big crick, don't have too many ways to avoid going by one.
