You are the driver. It's on you once you move that truck. Park it till it's fixed.

Posted problem Monday. Here it is Friday. Did he move it or refused and the company fired him on the spot?
The world anxiously awaits the outcome.

I had a similar occurrence in Wyoming several years ago, talked to the safety department and that is a definite No-Go!
Remember; If you don't feel it is safe it probably isn't, and ultimately it is your license and reputation on the line.

If you can scale, AND if the empty axle is safely secured, you can drive it, the same as if it were a raised tag axle. You can also expect to get pulled in for inspections, so plan for that.

Make a note in your log and on your inspection form that "At 1330, Dispatcher Fred Flatass was aware of the condition of my truck, advised me that it was lawful to operate in that condition, told me to finish the run then take trailer for repair." Then you go scale and note your axle weights. If you're legal, go. If not, then DON'T go.

Be aware of the decreased traction and braking.

The guys saying to find another company, I don't agree. If you can do the run legally and safely, well, that's what you were hired to do, right?

You gotta call bull #### in these situations. Their insurance pays for their damages while you go to jail.

Get a scale ticket and do the math, and remember, there are exceptions to every rule. It's your job to know what applies to you. No load is worth negative points on your csa score.

Is this another one and done? The op hit something causing this damage, then his company wants him to clean up his own mess. What did he do in the end?
