The one I found, but can't find anymore, was an opinion piece by the fmcsa director.
It's an opinion piece so it has zero legal weight, but it's an opinion piece by the guy who tells everyone what to enforce.
Wish I could find it again and bookmark it.

I get what you’re saying and whatever anyone does I would recommend splitting the middle.

I go on duty for opening my doors, turning in paper work etc and stay for 15 minutes, I also walk around my trailer etc.

I then go to sleeper or off duty.
get the green light and again go on duty pit in my go’s info remove the wheel chock etc, this is for 10-15mins. Then go to drive.

uve had several inspections and the only trouble I’ve gotten was I once went over my 30 trying to back in off a highway that took me over an hour.

I cant even understand the question to be honest.

70 hours in 8 days, 34 hours you get a new set of 70 hours or day one hours will be given back, then on day 9 day 2's hours etc..

usually your ELD will have a count down or some way for you to calculate your time. Which ELD are you using

70 hours is 70 hours any which way, reset or recap. I believe the real focus should be how much of your 14 clock is driving miles. That’s where you make $$. That’s where the true operating efficiency is.

Wow ... you guys overcomplicate things.

I’m stupid in thinking that if you are hitting your 34 reset, you are working hard but not smart.

I tell my drivers not to do this, not to squeeze out as much work as they can but learn how to leverage the loads to make more money.

another thought, if your reg book is from 2012 or what ever ... get an updated version of it.

    Just passing by Thanks this.

recap is 70 hrs in 8 days
reset is 70hrs in 7 days
so you get an extra day to work in a week on reset.
