That’s a public relations jackpot right there. A big evil trucking company (in the eyes of the public) fired a driver for texting while driving. That should give the anti trucking alliance the warm fuzzies. Nestle could not possibly care any less that the driver declined the offer to come back.
WalMart drivers word to the wise...

I can tell by some of these responses on here that some of these guys have never worked at a company where they micromanage you to death. What it boils down to is no matter how well you do your job they WILL find something wrong with your performance. They stack it up to use it against you be it for thinning the herd during slow times, taking away bonuses or just to keep everyone running scared, then wonder why morale is down the drain. Those safety people are getting heat from the higher ups and will do whatever it takes to make them look good.

The Walmart DC in Grantsville, UT is trying to hire 38 more drivers ASAP. You'll get a $8000 sign on bonus. You only need 3 years of experience. They pay $87,500k a year and if you work the 6 days of work 2 days of home time you easily make over a $100,000 / year. You get a raise every year for the first 5 years, then another raise at 15 years. They've also raised the pay again the last several years. You start out with 21 days of paid time off your very first year! Then it incrementally goes up to 41 days of paid time off at 20 years. You get about a $800 safety bonus every 3 months plus another 4 safety vacation days (if you didn't get in an accident or incident) You can do driver adjusted pay using your paid time off and that's where if you have a slow day below your average daily pay you can boast your pay with your paid time off if you don't need all the vacation days or everything above 10 days gets cashed out the end of January.
They're hard on safety but so are a lot of companies and they have cameras but if you're driving the way you should be you don't mind the road facing camera.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 19, 2021

The problem stems from a small number of drivers that don't understand an easy concept of getting out and looking to make sure nothing gets hit. When enough unnecessary accidents happen due to this, the company is gonna focus on that. Even when expectations are given, there are drivers that still can't follow that simple concept. That is what leads to this kind of micromanagement.

That's like saying that it's not so bad having to do a physical when in reality the doctor is actually a proctologist.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Knucklehead, InTooDeep, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this.

The moral? Never trust a proctologist.
Also never trust a trucking company, that doesn’t trust you. That’s a big reason I’ll never drive for Walmart. They don’t have trust in there drivers. Yes I know there have been a few who messed up, but why take it out on the whole fleet?jason6541, T.Rucker, TokyoJoe and 1 other person Thank this. -
