You would need 5/16 - 3/8. I have a few 3/8-1/2 and they are to big for 5/16 and you would be taking a huge risk. Safest thing to do is get proper binders.

It all depends on what you are going to be doing, how often and a few other things. I have 12 3/8 chains 6600 wll and 12 5/16 - 3/8 binders 7100 wll.

You need 5/16-3/8 binders (normally rated 5400lb)
3/8-1/2 binders are overkill for any flatbed or stepdeck as 90percent of the tiedown points will be rated at less than 5500lbs
If you will be pulling a lowbed then 5/16 chain should stay in your headache rack unless it is used to tie down a loose auxiliary piece of less than 5000lbs and a 2 inch ratchet strap will do as well.

Not so much on binders ( the screw type are the best) an old timer told me, "if you line up all the links in the chain ( no kinks) it will never get slack", I tried it, and it works.

You have an F-250 and a 28 foot gooseneck to move freight, or are you putting an F-250 on a gooseneck trailer to move it?
