Said it before, I’ll say it again... I like this place.
Dealt with folks in Safety, Shop, Truck Wash and even met and joked a bit with one of the DMs that was coming through Safety (although I can’t remember her name) ... all just fine folks that genuinely have a general sense of respect for the Drivers... or at least they fake it pretty well, but I don’t think they are at all.
That’s All... Stay Safe!!!

This year will be your first calendar year in the company, right? What ballpark gross range are you on pace to do and how many days a month do you go home for hometime?
Good to see a company that so many drivers seem to enjoy. I used to see the FCC trucks all the time on I 29 north and would pass by the terminal on highway 275. I always thought of this thread passing the terminal and the FCC trucks (well ok the FCC trucks always passed me I was governed at 65 lol).
One thing I remember about passing that FCC terminal on highway 275 - there's a particular bridge about a mile or two before you pass the FCC Terminal on the highway and the bridge isn't even that low. For some reason my forward radar would always freak out and it would do the automatic brake lockup thing because the sensor didn't like the bridge for some reason. Always startled me because there would never be any traffic there late at night when I usually passed by so you're not really expecting the truck to jerk from the automatic brake locks lol. -
But I also don’t live on any of our lanes... ive only had a few “drive bys” the house but that has been offset with drive bys in Paris and Savannah where my oldest daughter lives as well as time in Lincoln with friends. So while I’m not “home” I do get time off the truck visiting family/friends.
so for home time I might not be the normal driver that lives in the Greater Omaha Area or on one of our lanes or a regional driver that is probably home every weekend... but I’m very pleased with the effort they put in getting me home for my time off, etc.
If I ran harder during the month I could justify taking a couple more days off during home time too.
As to money, I made more here in six months of last year than I did with my former carrier for the other six months... I make 10 CPM more here than I did with them (although they just bumped 5 CPM recently so the gap would narrow)... and there are some other things that offset that extra CPM here compared to there.
But ya, I think I make decent money here but I also don’t chase Miles/CPM. Once I got in sync with the company, I haven’t worried if/when I’m getting my next load... I’ve never waited 4-5 hours after a drop before getting my next load and finally starting my day when my day is half over... and 90% of the time I know what the Plan is for the next few days. And the 10% that I don’t, it still comes together without me having to call and push my DM to get me a load, etc... (wow, I just realized just how much I don’t have to push my DM to kick the Planners to get me a load... used to be an every other day event... lol)
As mentioned above, I really like and appreciate the Corporate Culture here. Shop, awesome. Back Office, on their game. DM, great guy. Planners, top notch.
I’ve hit my bonus for each of my first three quarters which isn’t that hard to do. I drive “my hours” normally so I rarely ever “drive tired” but I do step up if the freight requires me to push into the night or get up 4 hours earlier to hit the target.
Could I get more miles? Short answer, yes. I am very sure if I told my DM to run my ### ragged he would do what he could to get me more miles, but I’m happy with what I get and if they need me to put in some over time to push freight along, they have but to ask and I would kick up my production. On the flip side, no one has hassled me about pushing more miles either.
So while it might sound like I avoided the question on Gross, it’s only because I’m happy with being here and that satisfaction has to do with more than Gross. Other drivers drive harder and I’m sure make more than I do so I also don’t want it to sound like others don’t make good money just because I choose to run differently from them. Maybe others could answer too for a better well rounded picture.
I’m happy, they seem happy,
It’s a good fit... win/win.cdavis188, BeHereNow97, Vic Firth and 4 others Thank this. -
There is no perfect job in trucking. But once you find your pattern that makes you happy it makes for a smooth ride. Plus with your winning attitude you are a great spokesperson for the company. Keep up the good work!

*flatbed upon flatbed*
Wake up in Fremont with nothing in particular to do. Go inside. Take a shower. Talk to DM.
Plan is to grab and empty step deck. And take it down the road to Valley. To be stacked on another flatbed. From there, take both trailers to the same company in McCook NE.
Once in McCook, drop the 2 and grab an empty van to bring back to Fremont.
10-4. Got all of that done today. Only 560 miles.
Tomorrow go back to Valley to grab a preloaded trailer of pipe to go to Brenham TX for Monday.
With a preplan on the backside of that load as well, Brownwood TX to... Valley NE for Wednesday.MidWest_MacDaddy and runningman0661 Thank this. -
Anyone ever have issues with their CB reporting “CB ANTENNA WARNING” in their trucks? Mines been acting up on and off and now seems I can receive but I can’t transmit.
If our shop can’t address this (haven’t submitted it yet) is there a good CB Shop I’m the Greater Omaha Area? -
I can everyone clear as a bell. But can’t transmit. My CB lights up the antenna light. Try your luck at the terminal. So maybe I can get mine fixed as well
MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this.
