I'm in the SLC Utah area. I'm looking for private schools or tech colleges that train on automatic. I got a cdl on a 13 speed manual in 2018. Never used it due to bad driving record. I was decent at shifting then but I do have a bad lower back and knees. I'd like to retrain to get a cdl and get the auto restriction on the license. I know that will somewhat limit my job options but with how many companies run auto these days, I don't think it will limit them by much.

    Thanks guys.

I know there's some out there, but it might be easier to just get a regular CDL and then look for companies that will put you in an automatic.

Actually, now that I think about it, the "automatic only" CDLs might be coming mostly from companies who do their own training and only buy automatics. CDL schools tend to use older equipment, and probably consider the full manual training to be a selling point that they wouldn't want to give up.

Your CDL expires after 3 years?
Check your license and if it’s still valid just go get the physical and you’re golden.

If you got a CDL in 2018 with a manual then why do you need to get a new one? That was only 2-3 years ago.

@Snowshoes told him Pride Transport in Salt Lake City will give him a choice of manual or automatic.
