The only value to a trucking company is its customers / contracts. Everything else is sold at auction to the highest bidder.

    A single truck operation?

If you were not fully in the loop, and not an experienced driver, chances are extremely high that you will only lose money if you try to keep his business running.

I know nothing about him, but let me ask you this. Do you think he would rather you sell everything and put the money into a business you know well, or drive yourself nuts trying to keep his small business running?

Most owner operators are proud and/or very independent people. However, we also know the business is harder than it appears on the surface.

Personally, I would kick my brothers in the arses from my grave if they tried to run my truck without at least a year or two of driving experience, even if they never got in the truck themselves.

Sell it. Get out , I'm an o/o and if something happens to my my children will not know really what to do. So I'd expect them to sell it. Hiring a driver to drive it is not worth the headache , and you won't profit much after you pay the driver. It's a never ending cycle. So sell it. Take the money and invest it in something you would rather do.
