How feasible is it to get a loan on a decent condition diesel 1 ton truck and dump trailer to start a business hauling stuff? Does anybody here do this type of thing?

Not sure how much freight you could find for that type of setup, but if you're in a decently populated northern area and willing to work then you can do ok doing landscaping in the spring snd summer and snowplowing in in the winter. Get yourself some bulk mulch delivered and do some residential mulch deliveries too. Another possibility might be delivering and installing appliances and such.

The work is seasonal----about 9 months out of the year, but some guys seem to do alright with it.
Check with the farm supply stores and the people who sell soil amendments. They'll be able to tell you how to get started.
One caveat...if you're delivering to an unlicensed and unpermitted grower and they bust the place while you're there you'll probably have your vehicles seized and spend a little time in custody. Just the risks of the game.slow.rider, Flat Earth Trucker and Doealex Thank this. -
A one ton with a decent sized dump trailer is Probabaly going to be under the 26000 requiring a CDL but you’re gonna need a DOT number , and all that jazz .
and figure out where you’re going to get the customers before you buy the truck.
I know several people making good money driving a mini van or a sprinter van hauling expedited freight .
And they are under the weight limit so no CDL no dot number no weight stations no log books etcslow.rider Thanks this.
