How feasible is it for me to go through a short diesel tech community college program and then start a business with just a truck? The type of business where I don't do any major repairs but I service all the clients trucks. (Oil, filters, brakes, suspension, etc.)

Mobile service. No major repairs. I'd stay in the general slc area for business. Would start right out of school by getting a loan for a truck.

Easy mobile service work is very cut throat. With no previous experience you will struggle. If you can show up they will expect you can overhaul the engine or replace the entire trailer roof on the side if the road.

Road work is not for everyone, and is very dangerous.

You’re putting the Cart in front of the horse, Literally. I encouraging you, but, learn the Business first, before trying to start one. Getting a Loan for a Truck? Reminds me of the Guy who bought a big expensive desk, didn’t make him a Businessman.

Don't want to sound discouraging but anybody can spin filters. Look at how many 15 minute oil change places are out there. Most of the "techs" there are minimum wage college kids. Very little skill required means very little profitability.

Being a true mechanic pays quite well if you know your stuff. A 6 month college program isn't near enough to prepare anyone to be a mechanic IMO.

Honestly you would make a lot more money going to a 1 or 2 year tech college or better yet to say the peterbilt tech institute and becoming a full blown mechanic. Take a year or 3 to spin wrenches on someone elses dime and get experince then either hire out to the highest bidder or open your own shop. If you really want to do mobile service after you get 1-2 years experince as a dealer mechanic go find a mobile tech place and work there for a year or two to learn the ropes and make sure its what you WANT to do long term.

Be a #### shame.to go into debt to your eyeballs and find out you hate it.
