BP meds don't harm you; use them until you're hired at least.
Only thing, if you tell the DOT doctor you use BP meds, you only get a 12 mos. card.
Quit the BP meds the day of the physical, this way you can say, truthfully, you don't take BP meds.

Ugh. Nothing more horrifying than experiencing a steep drop in pay/lifestyle thanks to a host of health issues. Like the stress from a job loss is supposed to make one any healthier.

    truckdriver31 and Chinatown Thank this.

I keep a 3 ring folder and keep adding any info I get from my doc everytime I visit the DR. Take it with to the DOT Physical and show the DOC so he can see a little history of your medical. Works for me, at least so far..

    truckdriver31 and bentstrider83 Thank this.

    Yup.
I go to the doctor for two reasons.
A DOT physical and to get my BP med renewed.

Although I did go to him for a Covid test when I was sick last year.
So that makes three reasons in the past couple decades.

I never get all the tests done that they want to do on me.
That is just asking for trouble.

And I might go in for a Covid vaccination.
I have a daughter that suffers from anxiety, and she would be relieved of some of that if I did it.

    Just passing by Thanks this.

If doing this how would you answer the question about previous blood pressure issues or past medication used? What is the reason it was discontinued?

I never mentioned any of that. I slipped one time and told the doctor I was taking Metformin so he only gave me a 12 mos. card. I was kicking myself over that.
Friend of mine took insulin and made trucking a career and eventually retired and always had a 2 yr. card because he never mentioned or listed it.

I'm not advocating that for any drivers, that's just what I did and my buddy did.

    nredfor88 Thanks this.

Wow. You should run for office.

You did it and your buddy did it, and you advised in a post to another poster to do it.
But you are not advocating that to another driver?

    Talk about double speak.

    Your dishonesty sometimes astounds me.

Because, no, you can not truthfully say you are not taking meds if you have taken them up to that day.

What reality do you live in?
