Anyone know if New Jersey is still pushing the issue of being on side roads with a 102 inch trailer??????

I run back roads, side roads, alley ways, pretty much any road without truck restrictions in NJ with 102 wide trailers, never had an issue. Even our box trucks are 102 wide and never any issue.

It is another example of bad regs. It is unconstitutional. The 102 ban is still on the books in NJ, see 16:32-1.1
    It is not enforced.

The way I understood NJ was 102’s were restricted to the routes highlighted in the truck atlas except for branching off on the shortest route to your destination.

Hell, that whole thing may have been started by drivers using the old 95-31-202-78 trick to not have to run the Turnpike.

We bought a used trailer, former Bettaway, that has rub rails added down each side. They told us one DOT cop in NJ saw it and measured and wrote them for being over 102 wide but I have never seen anyone written up for having a 102 off route anywhere.

Locals are not in the truck inspection game here, all the MICSAP funding goes to the State Police. They would be enforcing it if they could. I remember the county truck inspection/weigh units; they were a real PITA but, somehow, the legiscritters voted to make the state police solely responsible for CMV enforcement.

Our newest box trucks were ordered 102 wide and they go everywhere...
